Renewable energies need copper and silver as raw materials

Photovoltaic and wind power plants are an important pillar of the energy revolution. You need an increasing amount of silver and copper

In addition to other raw materials such as silver, copper is an important component of photovoltaic and wind power plants. The Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources estimates that the copper demand for new wind turbines will rise from 103,000 tonnes in 2013 to around 244,000 tonnes in 2035. And copper is essential for electronic components and electrical lines.

One of the successful copper producers is Copper Mountain Mining - https://www.commodity-tv.net/c/search_adv/?v=298887. The company holds a 75 percent stake in the Copper Mountain Mine in British Columbia. This will produce an average of 116 million pounds of copper equivalent (previously 90 million pounds of copper equivalent) annually over a 26 year life due to a recent plant expansion.

Due to its properties, silver serves as an important raw material in silicon collectors of photovoltaic systems. While the silver price in 2010 was just under 50 US dollars, today it is just over 15 US dollars. Silver, the little brother of gold, could perform well in terms of prices in 2019. Not only because of a rising demand from industry, but silver could also be pulled up by the expected gold price increase.

In addition, an important sector, Indian silver demand, has recovered. India's demand for jewellery and silverware in particular has been very strong over the past two years. State cash transfers to farmers - India is a peasant power - do the rest. Small farmers are particularly keen to pick up silver prices, which have been stable in India for about two years. Calculated per kilogram, silver is around eighty times cheaper than gold and thus more affordable for the average Indian citizen.

Silver companies such as Endeavour Silver are responsible for silver supplies - https://www.commodity-tv.net/c/search_adv/?v=298820. In mid-March, the company transferred its fourth mine in Mexico, EL Compas, to commercial production. Three more Endeavour Silver mines have been producing successfully for years, also in Mexico. Further projects are in the company's sights.
