An estimated 68 percent will also come from China in 2030. Worldwide, around 706 gigawatt hours were produced in 2021, of which 558 gigawatt hours are attributable to China. By comparison, Germany produced 11 gigawatt hours of batteries in 2021. By comparison, in 2015, the number of gigawatt-hours worldwide was around 68. The importance of batteries in the growing number of electric vehicles and batteries in other areas is clear. The future of the global electric vehicle industry is affected. And dependencies can be fatal. It's a good thing that South Korean and Japanese manufacturers have accelerated capacity expansion in Europe. Currently, more than 400 gigafactories are under development globally. By the end of this year, more than 200 of them are expected to be operational. Since, according to forecasts, global battery capacity will be four terawatt hours. Today, it is around one terawatt hour.
By 2030, Europe's share of global battery capacity is projected to rise to 13.7 percent, up from 7.8 percent the previous year. So, to ensure demand for the batteries that are in demand, a lot still needs to happen. Cost levels also play a role, as does the availability of the necessary raw materials. Lithium companies such as Alpha Lithium or Gama Explorations are taking care of this.
Alpha Lithium - https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/alpha-lithium-corp/ - is developing the Tolillar and Hombre Muerto salars in Argentina.
Gama Explorations - https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/gama-explorations-inc/ - is conducting exploration programs at its lithium project in the Northwest Territories and at its nickel project in Quebec.
