Focus on green energy with Biden as new US President
The USA should now rejoin the Paris Climate Agreement, Biden said. The energy turnaround requires raw materials such as copper in particular, the metal par excellence for lower emissions. Copper is used in wind and solar energy. In addition, electric vehicles devour considerably more copper than conventional vehicles. Battery metals for the production of lithium-ion batteries are also likely to be in greater demand. China, a large market for automobiles, is reporting sharply rising figures in the automobile market.
These batteries need battery metals such as lithium, cobalt or nickel. Nickel is also an important additive in steel refinement, as it significantly improves the quality of the steel and prevents corrosion. Research is also being carried out on nickel-zinc batteries, both in the battery and accumulator sector.
The nickel price is currently high because demand from China is still strong. And in one of the largest nickel-producing countries, Indonesia, strikes are threatening from time to time, as they have done recently. This also strengthens the nickel price. It is already feared that the supply cannot keep up with the high demand.
In order to continue successfully with climate change and e-mobility, companies are needed that have these raw materials in their projects.
For example, the Canada Nickel Company in Ontario has the coveted raw materials in its Crawford nickel-cobalt sulfide project. The company is also engaged in iron production processes that are free of carbon emissions.
Millennial Lithium is a promising candidate for lithium. Its lithium project Pastos Grandes in Argentina, with almost 13,000 hectares of land in the middle of the lithium triangle, scores with top battery quality. The second lithium project is also located there, so that a total of around 20,000 hectares of best lithium land are under the dominance of Millennial Lithium.
