Dear Readers,

Those who wish to have a financial stake in commodity extraction do not need to operate a mine themselves. Royalty companies acquire contractual rights to a portion of revenue or production. Streaming companies, on the other hand, typically receive metal deliveries and, in addition to an upfront payment, often make further payments per unit delivered.

The advantage of this business model is that personnel, energy, and day-to-day mine operations generally remain the responsibility of the operator. Nevertheless, rights holders bear significant risks: delays, shutdowns, falling metal prices, or a partner’s insolvency can impact revenues.

The quality of the portfolio therefore depends on contract terms, production status, and diversification across multiple projects. Mines already in production can generate short-term payments, while development and exploration rights often yield returns only after several years.

Gold Royalty Reports Significant Increase in Half-Year Revenue

Gold Royalty Corp. - https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/gold-royalty-corp/ -  reported revenue of $13.910 million for the first six months of 2026, up from $6.961 million in the same period last year. This represents an increase of approximately 99.8 percent. Operating cash flow rose from 3.556 million to 8.197 million USD.

The company’s defined gold-equivalent ounces increased from 2,595 to 3,677, a rise of approximately 41.7 percent. For 2026, management confirmed a forecast of 7,500 to 9,300 GEOs. This non-standardized, non-IFRS metric and its forecast depend, among other factors, on metal prices.

Uranium Royalty Expands Portfolio with Sweetwater

Uranium Royalty Corp. - https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/uranium-royalty-corp/ - completed the merger with Sweetwater on July 27, 2026, under a newly established U.S. parent company. The parent company acquired approximately 92 percent of certain Sweetwater subsidiaries. As a result, soda ash royalties, as well as extensive surface and mineral rights, were added to the company’s existing uranium portfolio.

In the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, ending July 31, 2026, Uranium Royalty reported a net profit of $16.3 million, according to a company announcement. Sales of 593,255 pounds of uranium oxide, generating $51.0 million in revenue, were a key factor in this result. These revenues should not be equated with regularly recurring royalty payments.

Conclusion: Gold Royalty and Uranium Royalty on the Verge of Milestones

Royalty models provide access to various commodity projects without the need to operate one’s own mines. Gold Royalty is focusing on the further development of its cash-generating assets; Uranium Royalty must manage the integration of Sweetwater and the diversification of its revenue streams. Contract quality and actual production remain critical.
