The Klondike Gold Rush

default

125 years ago, in August, the first gold was found in Canada's Klondike region. A tremendous gold rush ensued

At Dawson on the Klondike River, soon a hundred thousand and more gold seekers, not only from the USA, but also from Europe or Asia, were cavorting. The Klondike is a tributary of the Yukon. It was the time of an economic crisis. Some became rich, others came away empty-handed, some even paid with their lives. Major mining companies, as well as ports, railroads, outfitters and traders profited from the gold rush. So, on August 16, 1896, George Carmack found the first gold here.

The gold washers used pans, vibrating tables or fine washing troughs. The gold was then filtered out by hand. The coveted gold was already extracted in antiquity, namely from soap deposits. Even the Romans had slaves mine gold-bearing rocks. And in the 14th/15th century, the largest gold mining area in Europe was in the Hohe Tauern mountains. The so-called miners mined ten percent of the world's gold production there at that time.

Even today, the area around the Yukon is interesting for gold companies, although the way of searching for gold has of course changed a lot. In the Yukon today, for example, Victoria Gold - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnKfKu9ho9A - is producing at its Eagle Gold Mine. In 2020, commercial production began and by 2021, production volumes are expected to reach 180,000 to 200,000 ounces of gold at all-in sustaining costs of $1,050 to $1,175.

There are also gold deposits in the neighboring region of British Columbia. There, for example, Ximen Mining is located with three precious metal projects.

Ximen Mining - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kycnXhwfM68 - owns two high-grade gold projects in British Columbia, Amelia and Brett. In addition, there is the Treasure Mountain silver project and control of the Kenville gold mine.
