For many, the flying car is like a milestone. Aircar flew about 75 kilometers in Slovakia. The Slovakian Stefan Klein is responsible. The transformation of the Aircar, which takes two minutes and 15 seconds, seems futuristic. In the air, the Aircar reaches 170 kilometers per hour. Two people and 200 kilograms can be carried on board. There have already been 40,000 orders from the USA. However, the Aircar needs a runway for takeoff and landing. Drone vehicles have a clear advantage here, because they can land and take off vertically.
This year, a Russian company has started testing its drone cab. Passengers and cargo should be able to be transported and it can fly up to 100 kilometers. Takeoff and landing are possible on normal parking lots, because it has the size of a normal car, a runway is not necessary.
Raw materials are always involved in such technologies. Drone cabs, unlike Aircar (which relies on a gasoline engine from BMW in its first run), use the battery raw materials used in electromobility such as lithium or cobalt in the lithium-ion batteries. Lithium is a light metal and is not only used in e-vehicles, but also in laptops or smartphones. Millennial Lithium - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mc8deysBqY8, for example, has top-quality lithium in its Pastos Grandes lithium project in Argentina.
Work is also being done on drones that are powered by hydrogen. The energy then comes from a fuel cell. The advantages here are faster refueling and longer flight times. There is no memory effect but work still needs to be done on development. Platinum is needed for hydrogen technology. Here, Sibanye-Stillwater - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPaUVj84ZH8, also a major gold producer, can provide supplies with its platinum and palladium projects in South Africa and the USA.
