This commodity market should be able to record a large increase in value. Future automotive and technology trends speak for it. Trucks are responsible for around two-fifths of all greenhouse gas emissions in road traffic. And it is precisely here that fuel trucks are becoming an interesting long-distance alternative. Because electric trucks are more suitable for short distances. But as soon as it comes to long distances or large means of transportation, hydrogen could be the key to lower emissions overall.
The European aviation company Airbus has just announced that in 15 years a hydrogen-powered passenger aircraft is to be commissioned. Platinum is necessary for fuel cell technology. Sibanye-Stillwater, for example, has major platinum and palladium projects in the USA and South Africa. The company is also a major gold producer. Gold mining is operationally similar to the PGM sector. Sibanye-Stillwater, for example, has two important and promising areas in the commodity business.
Raw materials such as lithium, cobalt and nickel are important for the electric vehicle market. The stainless-steel market also demands nickel and cobalt.
The Canada Nickel Company has these two raw materials in its projects. The company's flagship project is the Crawford nickel-cobalt sulfide property in Ontario. Canada Nickel is also working on processes to produce environmentally friendly nickel, cobalt and iron products.
