The SS North Carolina sank under bizarre circumstances in 1840. She sailed from Wilmington to Charleston and collided with the steamboat Governor Dudley. About 20 miles from South Carolina, centuries-old gold coins have already been found in the sea.
The passengers of the Dudley were rescued, but the cargo sank. Among them was also a large amount of government mail. Valuables could have been there. The passengers of the Carolina boarded a rescue ship, but had to leave their belongings behind in a hurry. And on the ship were wealthy travelers. One of them is said to have lost 20,000 US dollars in the form of gold pieces.
The participants of the expedition hope to find rare gold and silver coins. A few years ago, ten gold pieces were found in the area under investigation, which were sold for 70,000 US dollars. The next weeks and months will show whether the divers can bring a treasure to light.
Last year, about 500 gold and silver coins were recovered from another shipwreck from Carolina, which sank in 1838. Among them were some of the rarest coins ever discovered in a shipwreck.
If you are not a diver and treasure hunter, but want to bet on gold treasures that are still slumbering in the ground, you should take a look at well-positioned gold companies. Gold has been found by TerraX Minerals - https://www.commodity-tv.net/c/search_adv/?v=298245 - on its Yellowknife City gold project in the Northwest Territories. The summer drill program returned up to 63 grams of gold per ton of rock. The 780 square kilometre property is located in the rich Yellowknife Greenstone Belt.
Treasury Metals - https://www.commodity-tv.net/c/search_adv/?v=298478 - has also found gold in the ground. The flagship project, the Goliath Project in Ontario, has nearly 1,230,000 ounces of gold equivalent of explored and indicated resources. Compared to the estimate of 2015, this represents an increase of 64 percent.
